Who is Sonata.EXE?

Once the personal NetNavi of the Creamland University Director of Symphonies & Oratories, he has since been a solo-Navi following the passing of his Operator.
He has an unending thirst for knowledge and love for entertainment, always happy to rehearse his musical skills for his friends to watch. When not fighting viruses he can often be found in crowded Area Squares playing music for crowds of gleeful onlookers. Listeners cite that his music has a soothing quality capable of easing tension or minor sensations of pain.

Name Etymology & Meaning

A Sonata is a form of classical music which literally translates to "a song which is played", rather than sung. His primary designation is as a musical research and performance Navi.

Combat Abilities

Dampening Shroud:
A special shroud they wear which acts as a defensive mechanism. Constantly vibrating at low frequencies it can be used to disrupt incoming buster-fire and low tier energy weapons.Amp Rings:
In addition to being used as speakers and sound amplifiers, these special rings can emit soundwaves capable of providing limited levitation. They do not grant high movement when in the air or unlimited flight, and can only be used when stationary or for short periods of low movement. The rings can also be affixed to weapons to amplify the output of their energy levels by 1 additional tier.Energy Blade:
By shifting their Primary Arm into the form of a Violin Bow, it may be used as an offensive sword-style weapon. By manipulating frequency outputs of the energy forming the blade, it can be reshaped to thin or thick variants, allowing for Shortsword or Widesword slashes. Pairing with the Amp Rings allows these slashes to emit soundwaves at a short distance to stagger foes.

Echo Shot:
By absorbing consecutive blows via the Dampening Shroud, the latent energy may be stored and unleashed in a boosted shockwave to disorient opponents.High-Frequency Receptors:
The antenna on their helmet can pick up minute changes in soundwave frequencies. Due to this, they are able to pick up sound from farther distances and spy on enemy conversations or more precisely locate targets they cannot visibly see by following footsteps and soundwave disruptions.

A) Their emblem is a black quarter note set on a white field. The tip of the quarter note is formed by a horizontal line which runs across the top of the icon, which makes up the shape of a conductor's baton.2) Who is their Operator?
A) Their Operator is deceased. They were once the musical director for Creamland's most prestigious university.3) How did their Operator die?
A) Their Operator died of natural causes and advanced age.4) How did they react when their Operator died?
A) Sonata was obviously very distraught to have lost his Operator and best friend; but he always intrinsically understood that, as a NetNavi, he would inevitably outlive his Operator. The two had discussed the Navi's future prior to passing, and decided that Sonata would continue to serve his function at the University as an Autonomous Navi until he was no longer needed, upon which he would then be released from his responsibilities and free to do as he pleased.5) What was their Primary Function? What do they do now that their Operator is gone?
A) When his Operator was alive, Sonata would research and compile data for writing and arranging orchestral pieces for the Creamland University Office of Symphonies & Oratories. With his Operator now passed, he spends his time exploring The Net and researching for his own benefit. He hopes to one day compile all the data required to write "the best symphony ever created" in honor of his Operator.

6) Do they have any special abilities related to their Primary Function?
A) As a musical research Navi, Sonata.EXE is also a musician. He has the ability to easily memorize sheet music and can transform his Primary Arm into a Violin Bow. This violin bow can then be used to play music by motioning in the air as if playing an invisible instrument.He can also transform his Primary Arm into a Conductors Baton to insert data strings into the code of electronic instruments, such as pianos or string instruments with Net capability; these strings of code can then force the instrument to play autonomously, linked to the Conductors Baton.The rings at his feet can amplify sound and can be used as portable speakers.7) Where do they live/hang out?
A) Since they have become Autonomous they no longer have a PET or Homepage. They most commonly can be found either in Area Squares or NetCafes speaking with, or performing for, crowds.When they need a moment of solitude they like to frequent Green Town or Oran Island, as the vibrant nature and calm of the areas reminds them of back home in Creamland. They do occasionally make trips thru The Net back to Cremland University, and are welcomed there. When visiting they can often be found in The Oratory Halls or Library.

8) Do they know any of the main cast or side characters?
A) They have never met Megaman, etc.; however they have heard of “a heroic blue navi”. They are familiar with the name Hikari, but only in so much that there is a Dr. Hikari who is an important scientist in Electopia.They do have intimate knowledge of, and have met, Princess Pride and KnightMan.EXE. Being the Princess of Creamland, she is known by all her subjects; additionally the Princess would often frequent performances of the University Symphony whom Sonata and their Operator were associated. The Symphony has also performed at Creamland Castle on special occasions, such as the nation’s National Holiday or Princess Pride’s Birthday. For each of these performances, as Navi of the Symphony Director, Sonata.EXE would take the place of the conductor.They have also, on many occasion, attended cooking classes taught by Pat Faran and SlashMan.EXE in Green Town. Sonata enjoys cooking E-Foods and finds the entire process to be very methodical and deliberate, just like writing music.9) What are some of their flaws, weaknesses, fears, phobias, or struggles?
A) Sonata has an irrational fear of the dark and hates even the idea of it. He hates fireworks, explosions, or other such “needlessly noisy” sounds; due in part to his highly sensitive soundwave-based hearing.Sonata has a natural affinity for music and can use the two adapters on his helm to attune to soundwave frequencies. While this can be used to easily make out sounds to help keep him out of danger, or assist in locating something, it also means he can inadvertently on occasion picking up the sound of conversations he wasn’t meant to be a part of. Because of this, he often has a fear of invading others’ privacy. In addition, he tends to not want to talk about highly emotional of sensitive topics in public, as he knows what it’s like to have your deepest thoughts overheard by strangers.

10) Do they have any special hobbies? What do they like to do for fun?
A) Sonata loves to perform music for crowds. He can often be found in Area Squares playing Violin for any who ask to hear it. On occasion people will offer to pay him for playing, but he always turns the money down.
Outside of playing music, Sonata loves to learn about and try cooking E-Foods. He also has a keen interest in gardening and plant life, and likes to spend time in gardens and arboretums.Sonata does not consider himself to be a particularly strong fighter, and if given the option would prefer to avoid combat if at all possible; however, he does find a sense of great satisfaction in helping others, most especially those in need. If he was to happen across someone having a Virus problem, or being accosted by an Undernet Navi, he would certainly try his best to help and try to stall the enemy until the NetPolice arrived.
